Anacostia Riverkeeper works to protect and restore the Anacostia River for all who live, work and play in the watershed
Anacostia Riverkeeper works to protect and restore the Anacostia River for all who live, work and play in the watershed. Through a combination of outreach, advocacy, and science-based research our programs work to protect the river as well as foster deeper watershed appreciation through community connections. We want you to share our passion for the river today and see the potential it holds for tomorrow!
CLEAN WATERWAYS CLEANUPS
Volunteer trash cleanup events are held throughout the year. Help us work towards a trash-free Anacostia by volunteering at one of our cleanups! Check our events page for upcoming cleanups: anacostiariverkeeper.org/events-calendar/
FRIDAY NIGHT FISHING
Friday Night Fishing is a free, family-friendly, learn-to-fish program. It runs June-August at Diamond Teague Park in Navy Yard. A chance for children and families to encounter the river through catch-and-release fishing.
WATER QUALITY MONITORING
Our community science programs provide up-to-date water quality data to recreators so they can enjoy the Anacostia in a fun and safe environment. Volunteers are training in the Spring, and weekly monitoring runs May-September.
